Culinary Arts Program

program description

The Culinary Arts Program is 2-year program that aims to give students the skills, knowledge, and confidence required to proceed with in the Cook trade.  A strong emphasis on safety, including the WSCC 'Go Safe’, First Aid certifications, and a Food safety course will prepare the students to train with a variety of tools, techniques, and materials in a well-equipped kitchen as they complete the Year 1 theory. 

Food Safety, Introduction to food principles, and related Math, Science and English will form a significant part of the curriculum.  The program's two years of academic and technical training ensures that students can apply to theoretical knowledge to practical application. 

Graduates of the course will be offered the opportunity to challenge the Apprenticeship Level 1 exam.  On completion of the program students may be eligible to transfer up to 240 hours towards an approved Apprenticeship program through the Department of Education.

Heavy Equipment Operator

PROGRAM DESCRIPTION

Heavy Equipment Operator Program is a five-month program designed to train students to operate Heavy Equipment namely, swing rig backhoes, crawler tractors, rubber-tired loaders and motor graders.

Students will be trained on two pieces of equipment and be certified to have knowledge and skills for employment at a basic entry level.

Employers would be required to provide adequate supervision and direction to assist the graduate in attaining the additional knowledge and experience necessary in achieving Journeyman status.
