Nunavut Teacher Education Program
Program description
The Nunavut Teacher Education Program (NTEP) offers a campus and community-based program that prepares Nunavummiut to become classroom teachers in Nunavut schools. The emphasis is on training primary and elementary teachers, but students may choose to practice at the Junior High and High School levels.

The program is focused on developing educators who are fluent in and able to learn and teach in Inuktitut. Applicants to NTEP should be proficient in Inuktitut. In Iqaluit, two steams of Inuktitut instruction are offered: Proficient & Emergent.

Adult Basic Education
Program description
Adult Basic Education includes six (6) levels of study ranging from basic literacy to coursework at the Grade 12 level. Courses in this program enable participants to learn or re-learn skills needed to meet employment, personal or educational goals.
Participants in ABE engage in a program of study according to their personal needs and academic levels. Because of this, time spent in the program will vary for each individual.
Due to the range of courses available, the course offerings will vary at each program location (Community Learning Centres and Campuses).
Participants often enroll in the program as a first step to entering a Certificate or Diploma Program.
Students may take ABE courses on a full or part-time basis.
Early Childhood Education Applied Certificate Program
Program description
The Early Childhood Education Applied Certificate meets the logistical needs of Nunavut communities and the learning needs of childcare workers by providing onsite training with minimal disruption to the childcare centre.
The Applied Certificate Program trains current childcare workers through a series of intensive, three-week accredited courses that build capacity in early childhood development. It is available in Kivalliq & Qikiqtaaluk regions (Rankin Inlet, Arviat, Coral Harbour and Iqaluit).
The ECE Applied Certificate Program enhances the workplace three-fold: by providing graduates with professional credentials to work in the early childhood field, by improving essential childcare services for working families and finally, by improving the opportunities for success in school and life of generations of Nunavut children.
Early Childhood Education Diploma Program
Program Description
The ECEP is a two-year post-secondary, accredited diploma program that prepares students with the knowledge and skills to develop and deliver quality Early Childhood Education in Nunavut. The program enhances the workplace three-fold: by providing graduates with professional credentials to work in the child development field; by improving essential childcare services for working families; and by improving the opportunities for success in school and life for generations of Nunavut children.

College Foundation
Program Description
College Foundation is designed for students who meet the basic requirements for post-secondary programs but lack the specific, additional skills required for admission to professional degree and diploma programs, particularly those requiring a basic understanding of biology and chemistry.
The program provides an introduction to a variety of College programs, but primarily focuses on the development of strong foundational skills in reading, writing and speaking English at the college level and the foundations of science.
Upon successful completion, graduates will have improved their knowledge and usage of English and Inuktitut as well as scientific principles and concepts. They will also have developed an understanding and appreciation of what it takes to be successful in a university level program. Graduates will then be eligible to apply for admission to other College programs.
Getting Ready For Employment and Training (G.R.E.A.T)
Program Description
G.R.E.A.T. has been developed in partnership with the Nunavut Department of Family Services, specifically for income assistance recipients. The program enables participants to:
Develop and enhance their employability and job search skills, including knowledge related to workplace ethics.
Develop the essential skills of reading, writing, numeracy, and document use required for a variety of entry-level occupations and community contexts.
Develop basic computer literacy skills including using MS Word, email, and the Internet for research.
Create a prior learning portfolio that identifies and provides documentation of their transferable skills, personal strengths, knowledge, and attitudes.
Reflect on their personal and career goals, and identify learning and career opportunities.
Create an up-to-date resume and cover letter.
Gain a better understanding of the nature of work and employers in Nunavut by participating in, and reflecting upon, a mentored job experience.
Pathway To Adult Secondary School (PASS)
Program Description
This program has been developed in partnership with the Nunavut Department of Education and the Alberta Distance Learning Centre. PASS enables adult students who did not complete high school and are unable to attend in-class courses to attain their high school diploma by completing approved Alberta Education courses via an innovative and flexible delivery model.
All courses are fully online and students can chose to complete their course work at times that fit their own schedule. Courses do have start and end dates as well as assessment deadlines throughout, however there is offer a significant amount of choice whenever possible, (i.e., 2 – 3 day windows for writing quizzes).
Each student is supplied with all of the technology they require to connect to their course(s), (i.e., laptop, modem, textbooks, etc.) and optional in-person support is provided in the form of PASS Adult Basic Education Instructors in each community who schedule face-to-face PASS sessions at times that fit the schedules of the students in their local community.
